Call for Participation and Research Abstracts
The third Indian Symposium on Computer Systems Research (Indosys) will be held at IIT Madras during August 19 to 21, 2016. One of the aims of this workshop is to provide for long-term and sustainable mentoring to teams of faculty and students in terms of year-long Masters projects. This provides an opportunity for the faculty and the student to work with some of the leading research groups in the country over a long duration and conduct quality research potentially leading to a good publication.
To participate in this program, we invite teams of faculty and student(s) in any college in India to write a short one page abstract of a problem they would like to solve. The abstract can include a brief problem description, its importance, solution goal, and the mentorship required. Your abstract will be evaluated by a small committee before you are included in this long-term mentoring program.
Once your abstract is accepted for this program, you are required to attend the Indosys workshop during August 19 to 21 at IIT Madras. You have to present your problem idea in a short presentation, usually under 10 minutes. Based on the problem area, you will also be assigned to a small group of about 10 people and a couple of advisers. You could discuss your problem with the advisers and come up with timelines and related logistics.
The Indosys workshop will have other technical activities such as tutorials and research talks. These will be delivered by experts from various universities in the country and industry professionals. The tutorials could have hands-on component as well that will acquaint you with latest technologies such as deep learning, big data analytics, and the like.
Important Dates:
Submission of research abstracts: July
25, 2016.
Notification of acceptance: July 30, 2016.
Indosys Workshop: August 19 -- 21, 2016.
Submission Guidelines:
Prepare your research abstract of at least one page but not more than two pages with 1" margins on all sides. The extended abstract should cover: the topic being proposed, a discussion of the related literature in this area with citation, the solution approach being considered, and any initial results that you may have. Use the
IEEE conference proceedings template if possible.
Submit your abstract at
EasyChair.
