SUMMARY:IISc ACM and ACM-W Student Chapter: Fun with Graphs and Networks by
  Dr. Sajal K. Das
DESCRIPTION:Fun with Graphs and Networks\n\n\n\nSpeaker : Dr. Sajal K. Das\
 nTitle : Fun with Graphs and Networks\nDate &amp\; Time : August 10\, 2025
  (Sunday)\, 11:00 AM\nVenue : # 102\, CDS Seminar Hall\n\n\n\nAbstract: Ne
tworks are typically modeled as graphs to abstract a variety of real-life
applications\, such as wireless mobile networks\, sensor and IoT networks\
 , UAV or drone networks\, cyber-physical systems\, social and biological n
etworks\, etc. This talk will focus on recreational graphs and networks fo
 r simple problems (e.g.\, chess games\, card shuffling\, Pascal’s triang
le\, Towers of Hanoi) using fundamental concepts of graph theory and combi
natorics. The audience will have “fun” while enjoying graph magic.\n\n
 Pre-requisite: Problem/puzzle solving\, creative\, and fun-loving mind\n\n
Guest Speaker Bio: Dr. Sajal K. Das\, whose academic genealogy includes Th
omas Alva Edison\, is Curators’ Distinguished Professor and Daniel St. C
lair Endowed Chair in Computer Science at Missouri University of Science a
nd Technology\, USA. Earlier he served the US National Science Foundation
(NSF) as a Program Director and was a Distinguished Professor of CSE at th
e University of Texas at Arlington. His interdisciplinary research spans C
 PS\, IoT\, drones\, sensor networks\, cybersecurity\, AI/ML\, data analyti
cs\, mobile and pervasive computing\, graph theory and game theory with ap
plications to smart environments (e.g.\, smart agriculture\, health\, ener
gy\, transportation). He has made fundamental contributions to these areas
and published extensively in top-tier journals and conferences. He has co
authored 4 books and 5 US patents and directed over $25 million in funded
projects. His h-index is 104 with 45\,300+ citations. Dr. Das is the Edito
r-in-Chief of Pervasive and Mobile Computing journal\, and Associate Edito
r of 4 IEEE and ACM Transactions. He is a recipient of 14 Best Paper Award
s and numerous awards for teaching\, mentoring and research including IEEE
Computer Society’s Technical Achievement Award\, and University of Miss
ouri System President’s Award for Sustained Career Excellence. He has me
 ntored 12 postdocs\, 54 Ph.D. scholars\, 31 MS thesis and more than 45 und
ergraduate research students. Dr. Das is a Distinguished alumnus of IISc w
here he is currently the Infosys Visiting Chair Professor. He is a Fellow
of the IEEE\, National Academy of Inventors (NAI)\, and Asia-Pacific Artif
icial Intelligence Association (AAIA).\n\nHosted By: IISc ACM and ACM-W St
