SUMMARY:{Seminar} @ CDS: #102\, January 06th\, 11:30: "Predictive and repro

cible dynamical modelling of T-cell plasticity"\nDate &amp\; Time : Januar

T-helper cells play a key role in the regulation of the immune response. D
isregulations of their differentiation can lead to various pathological co
nditions\, including leukemia\, persistence of other kinds of tumors\, and
autoimmune diseases. The development and differentiation of T-helper cell
s is controlled by a complex molecular network involving dozens of signali
ng pathways\, transcriptional factors\, and epigenetic regulatory mechanis
 m. Mathematical modelling of such complex networks can be used to integrat
e and verify the consistency of the available information\, and to predict
network behavior in novel situation\, e.g.\, following (epi)genetic pertu
rbations or therapeutical interventions. Over the last decade\, we have de
veloped a series of discrete\, logical models accounting for the developme
nt of T-helper cells and for their differentiation in various effector or
regulatory subtypes. To cope with increasing model sizes and ensure the re
producibility of our model analyses\, we developed and combined generic co
mputational methods and tools\, which are available from the Consortium fo
r Logical Models and Tools website (https://github.com/colomoto). This tal
k will provide an overview of this work with a special focus on reproducib
ility issues and discuss current trends and challenges.\n\nBIO: Prof. Deni
s Thieffry obtained his Ph.D. in 1993 at the Free University of Brussels\,
under the direction of René Thomas\, and made postdocs in Mexico (UNAM\,
  1995-1997)\, Germany (MPI\, Berlin\, 1997-1998) and Belgium (Univ. Ghent\
, 1998-2000). DT was appointed as full Professor of Bioinformatics at the
University of Aix-Marseille in France in 2000\, before moving to Paris in
2010\, to assume the position of Professor of Systems Biology at the Ecole
Normale Supérieure (ENS). He is currently Associate Editor of the journa
ls PLoS Computational Biology and NAR Genomics &amp\; Bioinformatics. He h
as published over 150 articles and book chapters\, mostly in international
journals\, proceedings and books. His current research focuses on the dyn
amical modelling of the regulatory network controlling haematopoietic/immu
ne cell fate specification and reprogramming\, in close collaboration with
several experimental teams.\n\nHost Faculty: Dr. Chirag Jain\n===========
