SUMMARY:{Seminar} @ CDS: #102\, March 28th\, 12:00: "Introducing AIOpsLab:
A Testbed for AI Agents Automating Cloud Operations"
DESCRIPTION:\n\nCDS Systems + ML Seminar Series\n\n\n\nSpeaker : Gagan Soma
 shekar\n\nAffiliation : Microsoft M365 Research\n\nTitle : Introducing AIO
 psLab: A Testbed for AI Agents Automating Cloud Operations\n\nDate &amp\;
 Time : March 28\, 2025 (Friday)\, 12:00 Noon\n\nVenue : #102\, CDS Seminar
  Hall\n\n\n\nABSTRACT\n\nIn this talk\, I will introduce AIOpsLab\, a holi
stic framework to design\, benchmark\, and evaluate AI agents for automati
ng cloud service operations at scale. As developers and researchers increa
singly turn to AI agents to tackle complex operational tasks — like diag
nosing and resolving performance and reliability issues in cloud services
 — they face a significant gap: the lack of standardized tasks\, workload
s and metrics that reflect the dynamic nature and complexity of real-world
cloud services. AIOpsLab addresses this challenge by serving as a "SWE-Be
nch" for DevOps and Cloud Ops\, offering a realistic and flexible "environ
ment" for AI agents. It allows agents to interact with realistic tasks and
it can be extended to new services\, workloads\, and faults easily.\n\nSP
EAKER'S BIO\n\nGagan Somashekar is a Senior Researcher in the M365 Researc
h group at Microsoft\, where he focuses on AI-driven operational resilienc
e and efficiency for cloud services. He earned his PhD in optimizing the p
erformance of large-scale microservices\, specializing in configuration tu
ning and bottleneck detection\, under the guidance of Anshul Gandhi at Sto
ny Brook University. During his PhD\, he interned in the cloud\, platform\
, and systems groups at Google\, Meta\, and Microsoft Research. Prior to h
is PhD\, he worked at Citrix in Bangalore for two years and holds a bachel
or's degree from RV College of Engineering\, Bangalore.\n\nHost Faculty: P
