R. Venkatesh Babu
I am a professor and Chair of the Dept. of Computational and Data Sciences (CDS), Indian Institute of
Science (IISc), Bangalore. I
received my doctorate degree from the Dept. of Electrical Engineering,
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. I held postdoctoral
positions at NTNU, Norway and IRISA/INRIA, Rennes, France,
through ERCIM
fellowship. I also worked as a research fellow at
NTU,
Singapore. I spent couple of years working in industry before joining
IISc in August 2010.
My research interests include Computer Vision and Deep Learning. I am a recipient of the SERB Star (2020) and Sathish Dhawan Young Engineer Awards (2019). I am a senior member of IEEE and AAAI. I have been recognized in the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List for 2023, 2024, and recognized as the top AI researcher in India by the CSRankings.org. I have served as a Program Chair of the AIML-Systems 2023 conference, General Co-Chair of CVIP 2024 and General Chair of ICVGIP'24.
