For Prospective Students:

We are always looking for bright, motivated, and hardworking individuals with a research aptitude towards signal processing/applied mathematics and medical imaging to be part of our research group.

IISc admissions website has up to date information regarding the eligibility and dates of admission.

If you wish to join Medical Imaging Group (MIG) at CDS in M.Tech.(Research)/Ph.D. programs, you will have to get admitted to IISc first!. If you hold a M.E./M.Tech degree (you are directly eligible for IISc research interview, you do not require a GATE score) or hold a B.Tech./M.Sc. with a valid GATE score/CSIR-UGC-NET qualifications, please give preference to Computational and Data Sciences (Computational Science (CP) stream) department in your departmental preference in IISc application.

Few of our group Ph.D. students also come from Interdiscplinary Mathematical Sciences program (stream of Mathematical and Computational Engineering). If you are highly motivated to work in the area of applied and computational mathematics
, please apply for this program and look out for Ph.D. topics which lists Phaneendra Yalavarthy as faculty.

Note: The only way to be a research student, (either M.Tech. (Research) or Ph.D.) in MIG, is to apply for IISc admissions. We do not have any provision to admit students through any other means, other than the centralized procedure adopted by IISc, which is advertised twice a year (typically in Febraury 2nd week and  September third week). Check the IISc admissions website for up to date information.

If you have questions in specific to joining MIG, please send an e-mail to Phani (e-mail:; replace # with @).
