CDS M.Tech. Student Karan Gujarati led a team in collaboration with Aster-CMI Hospital to develop an AI tool that can identify the median nerve in ultrasound videos and detect carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). The study was published in IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control. This AI tool utilizes a Transformer-based artificial intelligence (AI) model (similar to AI model that is being used in ChatGPT) and provides accurate and automated segmentation of the median nerve in ultrasound videos of wrist-to-elbow region.
Karan finished his M.Tech. (Computational and Data Sciences) in June 2023 and currently works as an Associate Data Scientist at Strand Life Sciences, Bangalore.
The summary of this development is here.
