Congratulations to Dr. Phani Motamarri and Prof. Yogesh Simmhan on securing the competitive Quantum Algorithms research grant under the “Quantum-HPC” theme of the National Quantum Mission by the Department of Science and Technology. This proposal brings together an interdisciplinary, multi-institutional consortium comprising the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), and the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH), along with industry partners Tata Steel and OLA Electric.
IISc is leading the effort through the team of Dr Phani Motamarri and Prof. Yogesh Simmhan, contributing expertise in classical algorithms for HPC applications, quantum algorithms for scientific computing, distributed programming abstractions and quantum middleware. The work will be carried out in collaboration with researchers from IITK specialising in quantum chemistry, resource optimisation, performance modelling, and IIITH, focusing on quantum linear algebra and quantum complexity.
