Microsoft Data Science Fellowship 2017 [Brochure]

The Microsoft Data Science Fellowship is instituted at IISc and aimed at attracting highly talented M.Tech.(Research) students in the area of data science and systems. Two fellowships are on offer for the incoming (2017-2018) M.Tech.(Research) students at the CDS department.

Eligibility & Selection

All M.Tech. (Research) students who start at the CDS department in the CDS-CS Stream in August 2017, and wish to pursue their thesis topic in the area of data science and systems with Profs. Yogesh Simmhan, Anirban Chakraborty or Partha Talukdar as their thesis advisor are eligible. Microsoft strongly encourages women candidates to apply. Advisor’s prior consent is necessary.

The selection committee will consist of CDS department faculty members as well as Microsoft India representative. Two fellowships will be awarded this year.

Entitlements

  • Enhanced fellowship of Rs.15,000 per month for 24 months
  • Travel and contingency amount of Rs. 1,30,000 for international/national travel and other expenses to support research including buying a laptop
  • Possible internship of three months with Microsoft India during the summer of 2018
