Prof. Yogesh Simmhan and Prof. Partha Talukdat from CDS were judges at the Microsoft Data Science Student Challenge held at IISc as part of Pravega 2016. The event had over 200 partiticpants from across India. Prof. Partha Pratim Talukdar has been awarded the Accenture Open Innovation grant for his project to harvest knowledge from large text datasets, and using them to improve accuracy and coverage of cognitive computing systems. A total of 11 awards were given worldwide and 4 were from India.

Prof. Yalavarthy (Associate Professor, SERC) recently received the INDIGO Twinning Program grant. This is a competitive grant with only 3 out of 18 proposals accepted. As part of this project, the Medical Imaging Group (MIG) will collaborate with researchers from the University of Twente (The Netherlands) and University of Bern (Switzerland).
