CLOUD COMPUTING SEMINAR SERIES
Title: Context-aware Optimizations for Efficient Edge Computing
Speaker: Prof. Abhishek Chandra, University of Minnesota, USA
Date & Time : November 20, 2025 (Thursday),12:00 Noon
Venue: CDS 102 Seminar Hall
ABSTRACT
Recent years have seen the advent of edge computing—computing near the users at the edge of the network—fueled by the increasing generation of data from mobile phones, wearable devices, and IoT sensors. Many emerging applications across healthcare, transportation, social networking, and business domains rely on extracting real-time information from such data. However, deploying such edge-native applications is challenging due to limited edge resources and energy constraints, coupled with user mobility and real-time requirements. A key observation is that many edge applications are context-dependent: they are often user-facing and rely on location, time, and the environment. In this talk, I will present our work that uses this context (application, data, and user information) to achieve resource efficiency, low latency, and accuracy in edge systems.
